Representatives from Cartakeback, Ford Motor Company, Volkswagen Group, the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (BERR), Overton Garages (National Salvage Association) Henry Gray & Sons Ltd and the shredding operation of RM Supplies Ltd recently visited Shetland to view the excellent work being carried out by the two Cartakeback Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs) on the islands.
Together, the two Authorised Treatment Facilities operated by Shetland Amenity Trust on Yell and 60 North Recycling in Lerwick recycle approximately 1000 scrap cars each year from the islands.
At a presentation held in the state of the art facilities at the Shetland Museum and Archives which was attended by Shetland Amenity Trust Trustees & Shetland Islands Council Officers, both Ford and Volkswagen representatives stated that they were impressed by the quality of the operations and later in an interview with Radio Shetland that they were pleased to be associated with the high level of vehicle recycling on the islands.
